Available Classes

Excel’s Rising Star Dancers (Ages 2-8)

These classes are for our younger dancers, along with older dancers who are just starting out.  The basic fundamentals of each dance genre are taught at different levels.

Mommy/Daddy & Me (Ages 18 months-2 .5):  A class designed to develop developmental, social, and mobility needs of toddlers through interaction with a parent or caregiver.

Creative Movement(Ages 2.5-4): An introduction to dance for the younger dancer.  Dancers will begin to learn basic dance steps, along with gaining motor and listening skills developmentally appropriate for their age.  Basic dance steps are taught through song and dance.     

Combination Classes (Ages 4-8): A combination of ballet and tap for dancers ages 4-6 and a combination of ballet, tap and jazz/hip hop for dancers ages 6 and up.

Mini Hip Hop: (Ages 4-8): A high energy class where dancers learn to move with rhythm to the music.  Dancers are taught proper Hip Hop technique along with style.

Musical Theater:  This class is for our singers and actors.  Students are trained with proper vocal techniques.  In the class singing, dancing, and acting all come together with Broadway and musical songs.

Excel’s Shooting Star Dancers (Ages 9 and up)

These classes are for our more experienced dancers, along with dancers who would like to focus, in depth, on specific dance genres.

Ballet: A structured class where proper ballet technique, flexibility, and ballet vocabulary is taught.  Dancers will learn proper body alignment, positions, and ballet steps, all done with proper ballet poise.  

Tap:  A structured class where dancers are taught proper tap technique along with tap vocabulary.  Dancers will learn to hear different rhythms, all while learning proper footwork and sounds.

Jazz:  A structured class where dancers are taught proper jazz technique.  Styles will vary from Broadway to jazz funk.  Dancers will work on flexibility, basic jazz steps, and learning to allow their bodies to move with the music.

Lyrical/Contemporary:  A structured class where ballet and jazz are joined together.  Dancers will be taught to connect emotionally to their music and to learn to move more freely when they dance.  

Hip Hop:  A high energy class where dancers learn to move sharply and with isolation to the music.  Dancers are taught proper Hip Hop technique along with style.

Musical Theater: A class that combines dancing, singing, and acting which all come together with Broadway musical songs.

Dress Code

Creative Movement:  Black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet slippers, hair pulled away from face.

Combinations Classes:  Black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet slippers, tan buckle tap shoes, tan slip on jazz boot, hair pulled away from face.

Ballet: Black leotard, pink tights, pink split sole ballet slippers, hair secured into a bun

Jazz and Contemporary/Lyrical:  Any color leotard or form fitting tank top, crop top or sports bra.  Any color form fitting capris, leggings or shorts, plus any styles tights (tights MUST be worn with dance shorts), tan slip on jazz boot, hair secured away from face(ie: bun or ponytail)

Tap: Any color leotard or form fitting tank top, crop top or sports bra.  Any color form fitting capris, leggings or shorts, plus any styles tights(tights MUST be worn with dance shorts), black oxford tie tap shoe(HARD sole only), hair secured away from face(ie: bun or ponytail)

Hip Hop:  Any color tank top, t-shirt or leotard with sweatpants, or form fitting legging and shorts, ALL BLACK sneakers used ONLY for dance class, hair secured away from face(ie: bun or ponytail)

Musical Theater:  Comfortable clothes that are easy to move in, sneakers or tan slip on jazz boot, hair secured away from face(ie: bun or ponytail)

* A sweater or sweatshirt may be worn for 15 minutes at the start of classes to warm up during the colder months.  NO hoodies of any kind allowed.
